Our promise to you
A letter from the Behavent team
Behavent Team

We started Behavent because we believe most people genuinely want to be safer online — they just don't know where to start, or feel like the tools available weren't built for them.
Security software has traditionally spoken to IT departments, not people. It's been built around compliance checklists and corporate risk registers, written in a language that quietly says: this isn't really for you.
Behavent is built differently. And we want to be upfront about exactly what that means — not in fine print, but right here at the top.
Your data belongs to you
Behavent analyses your daily digital behaviour to help you understand and improve your own security. That analysis happens to give you insight, not to give us something to sell.
We will never sell your personal data. No names. No profiles. No behavioural history tied back to you as an individual. That's not a policy we could change on a Tuesday — it's built into how the platform works from the ground up. Privacy by design means the protection is in the architecture, not just the terms and conditions.
We do power something called the Behavent Risk Exchange (BRX) — a platform that shares anonymised, aggregated statistics with the broader security community. Think of it like crowd-sourced traffic data: useful patterns that help everyone, with no way to trace anything back to a single person. No names. No profiles. No you.
Participation in BRX is always opt-in. Which brings us to something we think is worth explaining properly.
The community edition is a real product
We offer a free community edition of Behavent, and we want to be direct: it is a real, valuable product — not a stripped-back teaser designed to frustrate you into upgrading.
Your Behavent Score. Your domain assessments across Device Health, Daily Habits, Spot the Threat, and more. The assess → act → improve loop. All of it, available to you without paying a cent.
That said, we want to be honest about how the tiers work — because transparency here is more respectful than small print.
AI in the community edition
Every community edition user gets access to Behavent's shared AI model, trained across the whole community. It reflects real patterns from real people improving their security every day — and it's genuinely useful.
If you choose to opt in to BRX — sharing your anonymised data to help the broader community — we'll upgrade your AI to cohort-level insights. Think of it like a loyalty reward: you contribute to something bigger, and in return your AI gets smarter about people in situations like yours. You can opt out at any time.
What else is different
Some features in the community edition run on-demand rather than automatically, and some tools have daily usage limits. These aren't artificial restrictions — they're how we keep the free tier sustainable so it stays free for everyone.
Pro includes cohort-level AI by default, full automation across all features, and more generous daily limits. Advanced goes further still — personalised AI built around your specific history and behaviour patterns, and the most generous limits of any tier.
We're not going to pretend the paid tiers aren't better. They are. But the community edition is genuinely good — and it gets better the more you engage with it.
Behavent for families
We know security isn't just a personal matter — it's a household one. Family plans sit on top of our existing tiers, giving you Family Community, Family Pro, or Family Advanced across up to eight linked accounts at a discounted rate.
Family accounts are also how younger members of your household join Behavent. Any account holder under 18 needs to be part of a family plan, with a parent or guardian as the account owner. We currently support members aged 13 and over — a reflection of our commitment to handling younger users' data with the care it deserves.
Your score, explained honestly
Your Behavent Score is made up of ten domains — from Device Health to Know Your Risk — each one reflecting a different aspect of your daily digital behaviour. We'll always tell you which domains are affecting your score, what's pulling it up, and what you can do to improve it.
The full picture is more complex than a single number suggests. Your score draws on a combination of self-assessments, external signals, and a decay factor — meaning your score reflects your habits right now, not something you did six months ago. That's intentional. Good security isn't a one-time event. It's something you maintain.
We don't publish every detail of how the score is calculated. Partly because the full algorithm is genuinely complex, and partly because a fully published formula creates the wrong incentive — optimising for the number rather than the actual habits that keep you safer. What we will always give you is clear, actionable guidance: here's where you stand, here's why, and here's what to do next.
No guessing. No mystery. Just a score you can understand and act on.
How we keep the lights on — and keep the community edition free
Running a platform costs money. We want to be transparent about how that works.
Some articles on the Behavent blog contain affiliate links. When we recommend a password manager, a security tool, or a service and you sign up or purchase through our link, we may earn a small commission — at no extra cost to you. We only recommend products we'd genuinely point a friend toward, and we'll always mark affiliate content clearly so you know when it applies.
That revenue directly helps fund the community edition. When you use an affiliate link, you're not just getting a product you need — you're helping keep Behavent free for everyone who can't or won't pay.
We think that's worth saying plainly.
What we ask of you
Just this: engage honestly. Complete your assessments as accurately as you can. Tell us when something doesn't make sense. Help us improve.
Behavent gets better the more people use it thoughtfully. Your feedback — even when it's critical — makes the platform more useful for everyone.
The short version
Your personal data is never sold. Ever.
The community edition is genuinely free and genuinely useful.
Some features run on-demand and some tools have daily limits in the free tier — that's how we keep it sustainable.
Opt in to BRX and your AI gets smarter. Opt out anytime.
Pro and Advanced give you more — better AI, full automation, more generous limits.
Family plans overlay your chosen tier across up to eight accounts, with a discount.
Affiliate links on the blog fund the free tier — and we always disclose them.
The Behavent Risk Exchange uses anonymised, aggregated data only — nothing traceable to you.
Your score is made up of ten domains. We'll always tell you what's affecting it and what to do next — we don't publish the full algorithm, but we'll never leave you guessing about your next step.
We're building something we're proud of. We hope you'll stick around and be part of it.
